Christmas In Oregon ~ 2014: The Drive North

We managed to pull out of our driveway about 4:20 a.m. on Monday morning before Christmas to make our way north to the Gustafson family festivities in Oregon.  Everyone including us thought a road trip with a 4.5 month old baby was a little crazy, but it turns out that - like his sister before him - Oliver is a great little traveler, too!  We made it all the way to our usual stop at the Comfort Inn in Weed by about 4:30 p.m. the first day, and the second day got us all the way to Canby by mid-afternoon!

 "Grandma, we're on our way!"
 Stopping for breakfast at McDonald's
Off To Grandma's!  (with a little stop at a rest area)
Lunch at Burger King.  Obviously, V was most excited about the crown!
Always my favorite part of the drive north on the 5 ~ sightings of Mt. Shasta!

Not bad for through-the-windshield shots, eh?
Lounging at the hotel

We all were in bed by about 8:00 p.m. - so we were pretty awake by about 5:00 a.m.  Vianne a little more so than the rest of us...calling God on the hotel phone, dressing up as Mary in hotel towels (she saw Oliver on the bed and proclaimed, "I found the Baby Jesus!")...
All ready for another day of driving!
