Week Eight began with Memorial Day. We spent the day just hanging out at home, and we had this cute little NB size dress handed down to us, which will most likely be too small by 4th of July, so we took advantage of this other patriotic day. Lots of cute shots so I'm posting a whole bunch!
"See these fingers? I've got Mama wrapped around each & every one!"
"Hooray for freedom!"
I was so happy to dress Vianne up in this onesie on Tueseday. I bought this for her at 21 weeks pregnant when we found out we were having a girl, back when that was such a nebulous concept. So fun & surreal to finally see this girl in it!
This pose cracks me up!
Another hilarious pose I had to capture! She looks so solemn!
On Thursday, Vianne tried out one of her new dresses (from our friend Andrea) and I found myself singing her "Wild Thing...you make heart sing...you make everything...grooooovy..." all morning :-). She wanted to be extra cute because we had friends coming to visit!
Lovely Megan came back for another visit and this time she brought her sweet sons, Joshua & Caleb!
The boys were so sweet with Vianne and she was very taken with them! They both held her very gently and admired her cuteness with great enthusiasm, and she was thrilled with the attention. Here she is with Joshua.
Caleb sang her all his favorite songs, which she loved!
We enjoyed the warm, sunny day with lunch & playtime in the backyard.
On Saturday, we made a quick visit to the Losies where an open house shower for the twins was taking place. Vianne got to meet my cousin Michelle & her kids (Lily, pictured, and Jackson) who are visiting from Missouri.

Vianne & Her Sheep (a gift from Corinne at the hospital)
Vianne's seventh week of life was filled with changes and smiles! For the first time in her short life, her NB clothes were no longer baggy, but actually a little tight - so we got out the 0-3 month clothes. Also too tight, the NB size diapers! So she's moved up to size 1. Of course this is all inevitable, but it's so strange to watch this little person grow before your very eyes, and nothing makes it more clear than things that were once huge being too tight. It really does seem to happen overnight and it's all too true that it goes so fast!
As for the smiles, we can't get enough of them! Her first real smile occurred on Mother's Day (but who's gonna believe me, right? :-P), and then every day after she would give me one or two in the waking hours of the morning that week...but this last week, she busts them out regularly, during her now-more-often periods of wide-eyed awake time throughout the day. They are very deliberate smiles, accompanied by very deliberate eye contact, and it's such a thrill to make this human connection with our little one, a step up from simply meeting her needs on demand.
Here she is, enjoying her beautiful blanket from my cousin Greg's wife, KT.
Smiling for Mama. Love, love, love this picture.
Vianne & I have these sweet, slow mornings together, which she spends alternating feedings and naps on my lap, while I try to catch up on reading, blogging, paperwork, emails, etc. A couple glimpses of what that looks like, from my perspective :-).
Trying to capture the smiles as proof. Blurry, but still so cute!!!
On Saturday, we dressed her up in her pretty sweater & took her to church to meet our friends at the Saturday night service. Love this face she's making!
Seven weeks old & trying out one of her new cute onesies from our friend Melissa. For some reason, we're terribly amused by sitting her up like a big person...
Uncle Jon came to visit Sunday night & have a pre-Memorial Day picnic with us.
It was a blast to sing with Rachelle at her recent baby shower. Brian, though not visible on the video, also sang & played percussion. They are both incredible singers & love to worship God through music so I loved blending our voices in praise!
We've been doing Tummy Time with Vianne to strengthen her neck, but she's had these incredibly strong little legs since birth (seriously, she almost pushed herself out of her first bath and gave the nurse quite a scare!) and so far, she'd rather work more on her legs than her neck. She likes to push against the floor and try to scoot forward...and every once in awhile tries lifting her head. Daddy & Uncle Jon are already planning her soccer career!
On Wednesday afternoons, Grandpa comes over after work to, let's be honest, see Vianne. We all love it because Grandpa gets lots of cuteness, Vianne gets lots of lovin' and Mama & Daddy get a little break :-). Don't let her (what we call) frump face fool you - she's thrilled!
Showing off those strong legs!
In her beautiful sweater knitted for her by our friend Amy!
Wearing pants for the first time :-)
"Mommy's Sweetheart" in her sweet outfit from Aunt Jenny
More "Naked Time" :-)
Pretty in Pink - whether Mama likes it or not :-)
Cute little ruffle booty - an outfit from Grandma & Grandpa Oden
Vianne was all cute for a big outing to a baby shower for our friend Rachelle! Grandma, Grandpa, & Uncle Jon were all there, too. Rachelle is expecting twin boys in August and we're so excited for Vianne to have some little buddies close by!
Me & Rachelle
Rachelle invited me to sing "We Raise Our Hands" for the shower, with her and Brian. I was so honored, and thrilled that the song has meant so much to her.
Six weeks old on Sunday and Vianne's first time at our small group from church - with baby friends Ansley and Gracelyn, and their Mamas Melissa and Jill
With Gracelyn - isn't that so sweet how she reached over to touch Vianne's head??! Too cute!!
Still way behind on posting the pictures from her first six weeks. But here's a few more glimpses into Life With Vianne. She doesn't do much, but she's awful cute ;-).

I was the only one of four siblings that was born outside of Oregon, in Lansing, Michigan, while my dad was pursuing his doctorate. My mom tells the story of how she was a bit sad at the lack of family nearby when I was born, thus I got decidedly less attention - visitors and gifts - than my Oregon-born older siblings, so she went out and bought me a new dress of my own to rectify the situation.
I had often seen the pictures growing up, of me in this little green gingham dress, but what I didn't know was that Mom had saved the dress all these years! She surprised me with it at
my shower in January so that Vianne could wear it, too. But I find it's a little too precious for every day use, especially since V's a bit of a spitter-upper these days, but I did put it on her for some photos this week!
