A half a year already! Vianne is such a gift and we are daily enraptured by her cuteness. The last few weeks have brought out so much personality, so much development, and all sorts of fun & funny new tricks. This little video clip shows a glimpse into life with Six Month Vianne. We find the Tarzan-like double-fisted chest/belly whacking, which started up last week, especially concerning comical. She continues to be a little chatterbox and now almost always flips to her back when placed on her belly (though has only done one back to belly flip to date), and is showing a lot of manual dexterity with her ever-reaching, ever-occupied hands. She is a wiggly, active, alert girl who rarely wants to sit still (or nap :/ - but we're working on this) and most days I feel like I've given birth to the Energizer bunny.
Today we had her 6 month check-up at the doctor, and we left thanking God for a healthy baby that's right on target developmentally (we do not take this lightly). Vianne weighed in at 16 lbs, 2 oz, and measured 26 1/4" long. That puts her at about the 37th percentile for weight to length (about 50th for weight and 65th for length, and 33rd for head circumference).
On Monday, we took a photo shoot in this sweet blue outfit, a gift from her Great Aunt Carol. She was so sweet & smiley when I got the camera out (sometimes the camera makes her clam up) so there are many precious ones in the bunch!
Vianne's 25th week of life was largely about her toys. She has a whole bunch of them and she is very passionate about each & every one. She often will concentrate on one at a time, and sometimes she gets so focused on it - and so forceful with it - that I can't help but laugh. She seems to want to bend each one to her will until it submits in defeat. The most frequent target of such focus is this cloud rattle, who receives a firm talking-to in the video below.

What Mama loves best about this picture is that Vianne is wearing this layered outfit, which she has not worn since we were up in Oregon in July because it's been too hot in California. We are finally waking up to cooler, sometimes even overcast, mornings and sometimes need long sleeves & pants - hallelujah!

She also particularly loves the Baby Einstein back (bottom center) from Grandma G. and the chain that attaches it to her chair from Christine.
I re-introduced her to Sophie the Giraffe this week, a must-have for Francophile Mamas. She went crazy for her! Wish I would have remembered to pull her out earlier, seems to really do the trick for sore gums!

Perhaps the only thing Vianne loves more than her toys (as far as inanimate objects go) is being outside with her toys! She loves sitting outside with the breeze and looking up at the trees and is always much happier out-of-doors.

Friday was stifling hot (yet again :/) so we escaped to APU with Daddy for the afternoon. Here she is, enjoying Great Uncle Lynn's office floor.
On Sunday (at 23 weeks old), she sported her Nike duds from (my) cousins Shannon & John. All she needed was a tennis racket - too cute!
We enjoyed a special lunch with the Losie family to celebrate a bunch of September birthdays, and the twins (my cousins' sons) Charlie (left) and Ethan (right) happened to be sporting some collars, too! These photos may be exceeding the legal limits of cuteness...you've been forewarned!
Vianne experienced what it's like to be a second child this week; that is, to have very few pictures taken of her ;-).
Apart from the occasion of
her five monthiversary and the consequent beginning of eating "solids" (rice cereal), there is little to show for this week, which was
exciting for Daddy, and for various reasons, stressful for Mama.

But I did get this cute video of her showing off her New Skill O' The Week: Doing a 360 turn (and sometimes several in a row) on her playmat, using her legs, arms, and often her face :-).
