Oliver Patrick: Twenty-Three Months Old

Another explosion of language between 22 months & 23! Oliver now self-refers as "Ollie" which is kind of funny because we have only ever called him that as a rare exception to the rule, and now it seems inevitable to catch on. It's very cute in his case!
He figured out how to climb out of his crib this month which means a lot of things. 1) The end of the crib. 2) Big boy bed (we already had a full bed set up in his room for guests, so this is now his). 3) Mama hasn't slept through the night since. He now gets up and comes to get me in the middle of the night, and because I am so tired, I lie down next to him in the full bed and the next thing I know, it's morning. He has been having some restlessness, too - it seems to be related to teething or bad dreams or who knows, but all this to say, it almost feels like we have a newborn in the house again. We've also been skipping naps a lot of days, just pressing onward through late afternoon crabbiness, so that he will fall asleep easier at night, because this has also proved to be a challenge in the new bed. Gone are those blissful days that we'd been enjoying for months where I'd just lay him down in his crib & say good night, and he'd just go to sleep. I think it's part him growing up and part my penance for being so smug about how well my kids slept. We hope & pray that more sleep is ahead, but for now, it's pretty tired out.
Nonetheless, he remains as adorable as ever, regardless of sleeplessness and the ever encroaching two-like behavior. Here's his "I'm kind of a dreamboat" photo shoot...
