Vianne's 3rd Birthday, Part Two: Minnie Mouse Birthday Party

Vianne has been talking about having a Minnie Mouse party since last summer or so, which also means I've been planning it in my head for about that long, too.  As it turned out, since we did the big Disneyland trip, we decided to go small with the party this year, and just invite a few of her little adorable friends to our backyard the Saturday after her birthday.

I also went pretty low-key as far as decorations (yes, this was hard for me!)...but we had a fun tablecloth...

But I got to unleash some creativity ~ I had a lot of fun thinking up & making the cupcakes...
 ...with the help of my relatively-trusty assistant, who's getting better about not putting foreign substances into the batter now that she's 3.

Since I'm unfamiliar with fondant/too cheap to buy a bow mold, etc./not that masochistic, I went with actual ribbon for the bows.  Used mini Oreos for the ears, just one half, slipping them into the top of the big Oreos and utilizing a little frosting for glue, which also held on the bows.
 Et voila!  Minnie Mouse heads!
 Pretty darn tickled with the result :-)


 Before the party, Vianne got dressed up in her Minnie dress and got to open a few of her presents from the Odens...
 She was thrilled about a new bike, a Minnie Mouse beauty kit, new clothes, 
a princess dress and crowns!

 ...and her buddy Luke & his mama Brandy came from next door.
 The kids had no problem making their own entertainment (maybe next year I'll do organized games...maybe...)

 Also next year, no doubt Oliver will be running around with the big kids...but he just hung out with the grown ups this year :-)

 Patrick made his fabulous strawberry and delicious vanilla ice creams, too!
 Then the kids blew bubbles and ate suckers from their favor bags...




 And then it was time to say goodbye to our guests!
 ...but the family stayed to finish up the present-opening...


 ...still trying for that birthday shot with little brother, still not getting it...
 She did a few turns on her new bike...


 ...and was also delighted to unwrap Sheriff Callie & Toby
...Chilly and Stuffy...
 ...and lots of other treasures!
 The next day we recovered at home while Vianne delighted in each and every present all day long. There was princess dancing...

 Even brother was forced into got in on the action...
 There were many, many check-ups and diagnoses...


 ...and ladybug making, bike riding, beauty makeovers, microphone recording, instrument playing...all making one very happy three-year-old!
